Feb 7, 2012 · The last Service Pack update (Win98SE SP3.0 beta 4) somewhere in Nov 2010: 98 SE SP 3.0 FINAL (forum link) The last KernelEX update was released more recently in Nov 2011: KernelEX 4.5.2. I know that in this day and age of Windows 8 and iTouch this and that this really isn't news, but I thought i'd post it anyway - it helped me 4 years ago
Sep 6, 2020 · But I found this: Unofficial Windows 98 SE service pack 2.1e. After installing that, I was able to install .NET 2.0 redÃstributable without problems. Which means that the prerequisite of Installer 2.0 being on the system is fulfilled after installation of that pack.

As for Office 2000, Service Pack 3 will get you up to date. If your Office 2000 media doesn't include the SR-1a patch, you'll need to download and install that first. SP2 and SP3 will not install without it.

Just after posting the question I just realized that it was Service Pack 3 for Microsoft Office, and not Windows, but I didn't know how to delete the question. Finally, I had to install Service Pack 1 manually since it didn't do it automatically, but everything is ok now.
Oct 24, 2018 · Finally, right then left click on the shortcut for the game on your desktop run the "troubleshoot compatibility" function. On my computer, it selected running it under Windows 98 Service Pack 3 and the game hasn't fully crashed once.

Feb 2, 2015 · Here are few utilities I install after a fresh 98SE installation: 7-zip v9.20 - Free compresison utility. 98SE2ME - Nice utility to copy over the better parts of ME and get some updated TCP stacks and other performance and stability. I've used this on some older machines like a P1 166 with no ill-effects.
